Ohio State Gets Verbal from Quickly-Improving William Bansberg of Scottsdale Aquatic Club

NEW COMMIT: The Ohio State University has received a new verbal commitment for their growing class of 2025 from Scottsdale, Az. native Williams Bansberg.

He will arrive in Columbus at the start of the 2021-22 season along with Tim Kalin, Grafton Parlette, Alex Quach, Josh Bogniard, Karl Helmuth and Luke Paxton.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at The Ohio State University. Thank you to my coaches, family, and friends for getting me to this point! Go Bucks!”

Bansberg swims year-round with Scottsdale Aquatic Club and achieved five best times at the Senior Intersquad Meet in August after earning silver in the 200 IM at the Arizona Senior Open in February. He placed 24th in the 400 IM at Juniors West in December and took tenth in the 200m breast at Arizona LCM Seniors last summer.

His best times include:

50 free – 20.67
100 free – 45.09
200 free – 1:40.59
100 back – 48.59
200 back – 1:47.87
100 breast – 56.11
100 fly – 48.82
200 fly – 1:50.51
200 IM – 1:49.93
400 IM – 3:55.89

Also competing for Notre Dame Prep High School, Bansburg is a three-time Arizona DII State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed third in the 100 back and fifth in the 50 free as a junior while taking fifth in the 200 IM during his sophomore season.
