Ohio Division I High School State Championships

CANTON, Ohio, March 3. UPPER Arlington won the girls state title with 349 points, followed by Bishop Watterson (176) and Centerville (173) at the Ohio Division I High School State Championships. The boys state title was won by St. Xavier with 322 points. St. Charles Preparatory and Archbishop Moeller placed second (265) and third (202) respectively.

Girls Results
Upper Arlington won all three relays. Maddie Armitage, Nicole Wagner, Darcy Fishback, and Kayla Hammerberg combined for a win in the 200 medley relay (1:44.03). Fishback also won the 100 butterfly. She set a pool record with her prelim time of 53.38.

Junior Gracie Finnegan (Bishop Watterson) had individual wins in the 50 (23.33) and the 100 (50.47) freestyles.

Centerville's Molly Elkins won the diving competition with a score of 401.90. Taylor Anderson of Upper Arlington took second (399.75) and Haleigh Bartlett of Cuyahoga Falls followed closely behind in third (398.55).

Kristyn Fulcher joined Hammerberg, Armitage, and Fishback in the 200 freestyle relay. The girls clocked a first-place finishing time of 1:34.24. Fulcher also teamed up with Jenny Warmolts, Kerry Sullivan, and Abby Chin to close the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:25.85).

Boys Results
Jay Schuh, Erik Mai, Sandy Whitaker, and Eric Grunden (St. Charles Preparatory School) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:33.21. Whitaker also won the 100 butterfly (49.48) and the 100 backstroke (50.36).

Senior Eric Huffman (Upper Arlington) won the 50 (20.41) and the 100 (44.35) freestyles. Huffman is a three-star recruit in the Swimming World College Recruit rankings powered by Take Your Marks. He will attend University of Michigan in the fall.

Moeller's Joe Albers won the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.35. He touched out Andrew Bartley (Firestone) in the 100 breaststroke by only .01 seconds for a first-place finishing time of 57.46.

Junior Christian Holstein (Upper Arlington) took first place in the diving competition (484.45), followed by Solon's Michael Kreft (443.30) and St. Xavier's Mason Meier (406.30).

St. Xavier won two of three relays. Sam Lipari, Brett Schoenling, Kevin Louis, and Will Lawley combined for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:23.61). The group of Louis, Alex Miller, Matt Columbus, and Lawley won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:05.04. Columbus also won the 500 freestyle (4:28.10).
