NOW ONLINE August Swimming World Magazine: Missy Franklin Named High School Female Swimmer of the Year

PHOENIX, Arizona, July 30. ON the same night that Missy Franklin just became an Olympic gold medalist with her 100-meter backstroke triumph at the 2012 London Olympics, Swimming World is proud to announce that Franklin earned the High School Female of the Year award. Jeff Commings has an in-depth article featuring Franklin's high school accomplishments this past year in our August issue. Read Now For $3.95.

Her first high school season after turning down thousands of dollars on the FINA World Cup circuit, as well as potential sponsorship funding after her breakout performance at the 2011 World Championships, Franklin raced to the top of the high school heap by winning the award for females.

Jasmine Tosky, last year's co-winner with Olympic Rachel Bootsma, took second behind Franklin this year. Meanwhile, four swimmers tied for third place in the female competition. Courtney Bartholomew, Kristin Vredeveld, Chelsea Chenault and Celina Li all tied in our high school title formula.
