NEW COMMIT: NOVA of Virginia’s Lauren Meeker has added her verbal commitment to an impressive list at Virginia Tech. It’s only July and the Virginia Tech Hokies already have seven women verbally committed to dive in in the fall of 2018. Meeker joins Rachael HolpNatalia Fryckowska, Abby Larson, Alex SlaytonJulia Bruneau and Loulou Vos.

Meeker said in her Twitter announcement,

 “excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at virginia tech!!! #gokies”

The rising senior at Mechanicsville’s Atlee High School is strongest in backstroke and butterfly. She was a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 200 backstroke. Her top SCY times are:

  • 50 Back 26.98
  • 100 Back 55.92
  • 200 Back 1:57.60
  • 100 Fly 57.19
  • 200 Fly 2:03.65

At the 2017 ACC Championships Meeker would have been a 200 backstroke B finalist with her best time.
