NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has officially begun their Class of 2027 recruiting after picking up an in-state verbal commitment from Meghan Christman of Carmel, Indiana.

She’ll overlap two seasons with her older sister, Madelyn Christman, who is currently a freshman on the Fighting Irish’s roster.

She told Swimming World:

“I am very excited and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming careers at the University of Notre Dame! So grateful for my family, friends, and coaches for all of their support in getting me to this point. Can’t wait to be Irish!!”

A talented sprint freestyler, Christman trains year-round with Carmel Swim Club and most recently finished 17th in the 50m free at the Speedo Summer East Championships after taking fifth in the 200m IM and seventh in the 50m free at Indiana Long Course Seniors.

At Indianapolis Sectionals back in March, she earned five lifetime bests while racing to fifth in the 50m free and sixth in the 100m free.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.59
  • 100 free – 50.07
  • 200 free – 1:50.74
  • 100 breast – 1:04.01
  • 200 breast – 2:20.99

Also competing for the legendary Carmel High School, Christman is already a four-time Indiana State Championship finalist. She collected silver in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 free as a sophomore while taking second and fourth, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.

The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also swam on the winning 4×50 free and 4×100 free relays en route to helping the Greyhounds clinch their 35th straight team title.

Christman is a huge pickup for the Fighting Irish both individually and on relays. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50 free at the 2021 ACC Championships, and she would’ve been their fastest 50 freestyler last season with just under two years to go before arriving in South Bend.
