Notre Dame Adds Verbal Commitment From Sarah Nicholls
NEW COMMIT: 2016 Olympic Trials Qualifier and two-time Scholastic All-American Sarah Nicholls has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Notre Dame beginning in the fall of 2018. A senior at Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, Washington, Nicholls trains year-round with the Coeur D’Alene Area Swim Team.
Primarily a breaststroker, Nicholls has posted SCY best times of:
- 100 breast – 1:01.83
- 200 breast – 2:13.27
- 200 IM – 2:04.76
- 400 IM – 4:26.66
Nicholls has demonstrated steady progression in the breaststrokes from the 2015-2016 season to the 2016-2017 season, dropping over a half second in the 100 and four seconds in the 200.
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame! I want to thank everyone, especially my club coaches David Dolphay and Bob Wood, for helping me through this process. I can’t wait to spend the next 4 years at Notre Dame! GO IRISH”
At the 2017 ACC Championships, Nicholls’ best time in the 200 breast would have put her in the B final right behind teammate Meaghan O’Donnell (who will be a senior when Nicholls arrives on campus), and her best time in the 100 breast would have earned her a second swim in the C final. Nicholls should be a welcome addition to the Fighting Irish breaststroke corps.
Bayley Stewart, Madeline LaPorte and Luciana Thomas are also verbally committed.
