Nation’s Capital’s Madeline LaPorte Gives Verbal Commitment to Notre Dame

NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has received a verbal commitment from Madeline LaPorte for the 2018-2019 season. LaPorte is a butterflier and backstroker from Nation’s Capital Swim Club. LaPorte is from Vienna, Virginia, where she is a senior at James Madison High School.

At the 2017 Virginia 6A High School state championships LaPorte was a key contributor to the team’s state title winning effort. She medaled in both individual events and on both relays. She touched second in the 200 freestyle in what still stands as her lifetime best time. LaPorte then clocked a 55.94 en route to a third place 100 butterfly. On the relays LaPorte was third again, leading off (24.17) the team’s 200 freestyle relay, before splitting a 51.26 on the silver medal earning 400 freestyle relay.

LaPorte shared on her CollegeSwimming profile,

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Notre Dame! My family and friends have been so supportive through this process and I could not be more thankful. Special thanks go out to Coach John Flanagan of Nations Capital Swim Club and Coach Andrew Foos from James Madison High School. I chose Notre Dame because of the amazing coaching staff and the team that they have built as well as the phenomenal academics that Notre Dame is known for. I cannot wait to join my Notre Dame family! Go IRISH!!”

Bayley Stewart is also verbally committed to the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2022.
