Norway Long Course Championships: Aleksander Hetland Downs National Record Twice; Relay Record Falls; Cecilie Johannessen Doubles
DRAMMEN, Norway, July 10. THREE Norwegian record-setting efforts occurred throughout the second day of swimming at the Norway Long Course Championships held in Drammen.
During preliminary swimming, Aleksander Hetland clocked a 24.59 in the men's 50 fly. The time clipped his national record of 24.62 set back in 2008. Hetland lowered it further during the finale with a 24.49. Oystein Hetland finished second in 25.02, while Alexander Broberg Skeltved pocketed third in 25.41.
The foursome of Christine Pedersen, Sara Nordenstam, Line Lovberg and Victoria Loken set a national standard in the women's 400 medley relay with a 4:17.18.
Cecilie Johannessen captured the women's 50 free in 25.96. Susann Bjornsen (26.30) and Henriette Brekke (26.43) completed the podium. Johannessen demonstrated some serious range with an 8:54.08 to win the women's 800 free. Elin Slaatmo touched second in 8:55.93, while Lise Sand Syversen finished third in 9:04.88.
Alexander Dale Oen snared the men's 200 breast title in 2:12.76. Sverre Naess placed a distant second in 2:18.88, while Sebastian Wigstrom took third in 2:21.04.
Lavrans Solli claimed the men's 200 back in 2:04.91, while Marco Aldabe Bomstad finished second in 2:08.15. Eirik Ravnan wound up third in 2:09.55.
Gard Kvale held off Bjarte Ravndal, 51.54 to 51.89, for the men's 100 free title. Oystein Hetland picked up third in 52.53.
Sara Nordenstam won the women's 200 fly in 2:14.45, while Line Lovberg touched second in 2:18.80. Victoria Rung earned third in 2:19.09.
Heidi Vainio Gjoen snagged the women's 100 back in 1:05.57, while Christine Pedersen placed second in 1:06.69. Oda Marie Siljan finished third in 1:06.97.
Oscar Slaatmo won the men's 1500 free in 16:18.03, while Henrik Christiansen touched second in 16:20.95. Morten Bordervich picked up third in 16:28.25.
