NEW COMMIT: Bethesda, Md. freestyler Jacob Rosner has announced his verbal intention to continue his academic and swimming career at Northwestern University as a member of the Wildcats’ class of 2024.

A talented freestyler, Rosner swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club under Bruce Gemmell and owns four Summer Juniors standards. He most recently competed at Junior Nationals where he placed 12th in the 400m free after winning that event at Potomac Valley Seniors. Last winter, he raced to 15th in the 400m free and 21st in the 200m fly at Winter Nationals before going on to earn silver in the 500 free at NCSAs.

Also competing for Landon School, the NISCA All-American is a six-time Washington Metro Prep School Championship finalist. Rosner was the runner-up in the 200/500 free combo during both his sophomore and junior seasons after placing fourth and second, respectively, in those events during his rookie campaign.

He told Swimming World:

“Extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swim career at Northwestern University! I would like thank my family, coaches, and friends who have supported and helped me get here. Go Cats!”

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:38.55
  • 500 free – 4:21.32
  • 1000 free – 9:11.32
  • 1650 free – 15:59.99
  • 200 IM – 1:50.74

Rosner will make an immediate impact in Northwestern’s mid-distance freestyle group when he arrives in Evanston in the fall of 2020 as his best times already rank in the top-2 of their lineup. Even with a year of club swimming still to go, he would’ve scored in the B-final of the 500 free at the 2019 Big Ten Championships.
