Northern Arizona Rings In Verbal From Swim Atlanta’s Lainie Bell
NEW COMMIT: Northern Arizona University has received their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Atlanta, Georgia’s Lainie Bell. Her twin brother, Liam Bell, also recently announced his verbal commitment to Alabama.
Bell does her club swimming with Swim Atlanta where she has met the Winter Juniors standard in both backstroke events and turned in four lifetime bests at the Georgia Senior LCM Championships this summer. She won both the 100 and 200 back at Georgia Age Groups last winter in addition to three other top-10 finishes. She also competed for Druid Hills High School last season at the Georgia State Championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m happy to announce my verbal commitment to Northern Arizona! Thank you to everyone who has helped me get here. I’m truly grateful.”
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 55.19
- 200 back – 1:59.78
- 50 free – 23.65
- 100 free – 51.70
Bell will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Lumberjacks as a member of the class of 2023. Both her best backstroke times would’ve ranked first on their lineup last season and would’ve scored in the A-final of the 2018 Western Athletic Conference Championships. Northern Arizona won their fifth-straight team title at last season’s conference meet.
