NEW COMMIT: Ashburn, Va. freestyle Madison Gupton has made her commitment to the University of North Florida and will arrive in Jacksonville next fall.

Also swimming for Briar Woods High School, Gupton is a six-time Virginia 5A State Championship finalist. She finished eighth in the 200 free and 11th in the 500 free as a junior after placing 12th and 16th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season. Gupton finished sixth in both races during her freshman campaign.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to the University of North Florida to continue my academic and swimming career! During my recruiting trip, I knew that this is where I wanted to be. The team, Coach Coffey, and Coach Claire were all super welcoming, and I can’t wait to be with them for the next four years. Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for getting me to where I am today. SWOOP!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 54.63
  • 200 free – 1:55.90
  • 500 free – 5:09.99
  • 1000 free – 10:47.51
  • 1650 free – 17:57.46

When she suits up for the Ospreys as a member of the class of 2023, Gupton will join a freestyle group that includes Hannah CordesSarah Trago and Ally Schilling. Her fastest mile time would’ve scored in the top-20 at the 2018 CCSA Championships.
