North Carolina 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina, February 16. THE Charlotte Catholic girls took first place at the North Carolina 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships, scoring 396 points. Waxhaw Marvin Ridge (253) and Waynesville Tuscola (219) placed second and third respectively. On the boy's side, Lake Norman won with 229 points, followed by Charlotte Catholic (155.50) and Waxhaw Marvin Ridge (149).

Girls Individual Results
Charlotte Catholic's Erin Gaeckle, Christen McDonough, Dana Pruitt, and Mary Kate Hetzel finished first in the 200 medley with a time of 1:47.76.
McDonough had a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.12).

Rachel Wilson (Reagan) won the 200 and 500 freestyles. She clocked times of 1:53.07 and 5:07.28 respectively.

Victoria Oslund of Tuscola had individual wins in the 200 IM (2:08.36) and the 100 butterfly (57.68).

Alison Menzies (Reagan), Katie Fraboni (Roberson T.C.), and Kyle Lynn Kotowski were the top three finishers in the diving competition. They finished with scores of 380, 296.25, and 295.65 respectively.

The relay team of Ashlyn Koletic, Allie Miller, Julia Neal, and McDonough won the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.65).

Lake Norman's Haley Powell took first place in the 50 freestyle (24.84) and 100 backstroke (57.89).

Koletic, Hetzel, Pruitt, and Gaeckle closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:38.16).

Boys Individual Results
Marvin Ridge's Landon Biehl, Evan White, Jacob White, and Casey Garland opened the meet with a time of 1:41.19 in the 200 medley relay for a first-place finish.

Tanner Lowman of East Rowan had first-place finishes in the 200 IM (1:55.89) and the 100 breaststroke (56.75).

Collin Hobbs (Eastern Wayne) scored 316.50 points to win the diving competition. Patrick Bohan (Asheville) took second (238.10) and Tanner Nestler (Asheville) placed third (208.20).

Eastern Wayne's Mason Chenier placed first in the 50 (21.16) and 100 (46.10) freestyles.

Tyler Hill, Parker Cromie, Reed Wheeler, and Logan Heck of Lake Norman won the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.26).

West Carteret's Bobby Bittner had individual wins in the 100 butterfly (50.93) and the 100 backstroke (51.26).

Michael Blinn teamed up with Hill, Wheeler, and Heck to close the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:16.14).
