Nikola Obrovac Grabs Narrow Lead in 50 Breast Prelims at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Nikola Obrovac of Croatia narrowly grabbed first in the men’s 50-meter breast during prelims of day five at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships with a time of 28.11.

Lithuania’s Andrius Sidlauskas was a close second with a qualifying time of 28.12 from heat seven.

Anton Chupkov of Russia grabbed the third place seed with a time of 28.19, also from heat seven.

Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi posted a time of 28.22 from heat six to grab the fourth place seed.

Michael Andrew of the USA finished fifth overall in prelims with a time of 28.28 from heat five. Shen Hao of China finished close behind Andrew with a time of 28.45 from the same heat.

Turkey’s Huseyin Emre Sakci grabbed the seventh place seed with a time of 28.49, while Great Britain’s Charlie Attwood was eighth overall with a time of 28.52.

The USA’s Reece Whitley (28.62), Belarus’ Anton Prakopau (28.78), Belgium’s Basten Caerts (28.83), China’s Lin Yunsong (28.83), Australia’s Matthew Wilson (28.87) and Grayson Bell (28.98), Russia’s Egor Suchkov (29.02), and Japan’s Ippei Miyamoto (29.17) complete the top sixteen qualifiers for tonight’s semi-finals.
