New York Public Girls High School State Championships

WEBSTER, New York, November 26. THE New York Public Girls High School State Championships took place this weekend at Webster-Schroeder High School.

Brewster's Ali Polhill, Alexis Valedon, Courtney Monsees, and Kristi Edleson won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.27. Polhill also won the 100 butterfly (55.20) and the 100 backstroke (56.45).

Brittant Friese of Newburgh had individual wins in the 200 (1:49.45) and 500 (4:52.41) freestyles.

Eighth-grader Olivia Chan (Sewanhaka) was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:06.35) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.48).

Mikaila Gaffey, Sara Dieterich, Claudia Reyes, and Nicole Hetzer (Connetquot) won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.99.

Top finishers in the diving competition include Ashley Broderick (Victor), Alyssa Menz (Binghamton), and Kim Harris (Long Beach). They finished with scores of 475.80, 451.95, and 450.85 respectively.

Kenmore West's Marissa Dressel won the 100 freestyle (51.38). She teamed up with Lindsey Sagasta, Haley Rice, and Leah Villari for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:34.68).
