NEW COMMIT: The University of New Mexico has scored a verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Peighton Johnson of Elgin, South Carolina. A Futures qualifier, Johnson is a talented sprint freestyler.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of New Mexico! First, I want to thank God for guiding me through this journey and blessing me with this opportunity. A huge thank you to SwimMAC, especially Coach Chuck, and Coach Kim, my teammates, and my family. Thank you to Coach Naya and the University of New Mexico, for believing in me and for this incredibly generous opportunity to continue pursuing my athletic and academic goals. I am so excited for what’s ahead and proud to continue my journey as a Lobo. Go Lobos!!”

Johnson, who trains year-round with SwimMAC Carolina, finaled in the 100m free at Indiana Speedo Sectionals back in March after she earned a best time at North Carolina Short Course Seniors in February.
