New Mexico Clinches First Class of 2026 Verbal from Magnolia Aquatic Club’s Kaitlyn Weightman

NEW COMMIT: The University of New Mexico has received their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Kaitlyn Weightman of Montgomery, Texas.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim & study at the University of New Mexico. Huge thanks to my family, friends, teammates, teachers, and coaches for believing in me and supporting me through the years! Can’t wait to be in Albuquerque! #GoLobos ?”

A talented backstroker and freestyler, Weightman does her club swimming with Magnolia Aquatic Club and most recently raced four events at the Speedo Lone Star Spring Invite after competing at the 18&U Winter Championships. In July 2019, she finaled in three events and earned four best times at Southern Zone Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 1:00.02
  • 200 back – 2:08.66
  • 50 free – 25.02
  • 100 free – 53.83
  • 200 free – 1:54.04
  • 500 free – 5:06.02

Currently a junior at Montgomery High School, Weightman finished sixth in the 200 free at the Texas 6A State Championships in 2021. She also finished fifth in the 500 free and seventh in the 200 free as a sophomore and 12th in the latter during her rookie campaign.

Under head coach Keegan Ingelido, the Lobos finished eighth at the 2021 Mount West Conference Championships.
