NEW COMMIT: South Windsor, Conn. native Kayla Brown has announced her verbal intention to swim at the University of New Hampshire starting next fall.

Brown does her club swimming with West Hartford Aquatic Team and concluded her long course summer season as a seven-time finalist with six personal bests at the TYR ISCA Senior Championships. She placed 11th in the 200 fly at the 2017 Connecticut Senior Championships and was the runner-up in that event at the Wilton Wahoos Invitational. Brown also won the 100 fly at the WHAT Swimming Invite in February.

She told Swimming World:

“I chose UNH because the second I stepped on campus and met with the team it felt like where I was meant to be. Every body was kind, motivated, and passionate, and for me everything just clicked. I knew UNH would help to me to excel academically an athletically. I look forward to swimming for the WILDCATS!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 57.27
  • 200 fly – 2:05.43
  • 500 free – 5:12.02
  • 200 IM – 2:11.58

Brown will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2023. She’ll have two years of overlap with top returning butterflyer Paige Hillis and her best 200 fly time would’ve scored in the A-final of the 2018 America East Championships where New Hampshire captured their seventh program conference title.
