NEW COMMIT: The University of New Hampshire has gained a new commitment for the fall of 2019 from Rochester, New York freestyle specialist Mackenzi Doescher.

Doescher does her club swimming with Fairport Area Swim Team (FAST) and capped off her summer season with six races at the ISCA Senior Championships. She placed seventh in the 1000 free at the Niagara Championships and won the 500 free at Eastern Zones. The team captain for Brighton High School, Doescher is a four-time New York Federation Championship finalist. She recently led her team to their second-straight Section V/Class B Championship title where she earned individual gold medals in the 200 free and 500 free; the latter breaking a 30-year-old record.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so thankful to be able to announce my commitment to swim division 1 and continue my academics at the University of New Hampshire! Thank you so much to all my friends, family and coaches that helped me get to where I am today, I couldn’t have done it without all my supporters! Go Wildcats!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 53.64
  • 200 free – 1:53.78
  • 500 free – 5:04.36
  • 1000 free – 10:30.14
  • 100 back – 59.80
  • 100 fly – 59.63

Doescher will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2023. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 500 free as well as the B-final of the 100 free and 200 free at the 2018 America East Championships where New Hampshire captured their seventh program conference title.
