NEW COMMIT: Ashburn, Va. native Kayla Graham has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2019.

Graham swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and is a Junior National qualifier in both butterfly events. She wrapped up her long course season with two personal bests at the NCSA Summer Championships. At the Potomac Valley Senior Championships in July, she was a three-time finalist and recorded three new best times. At the NCSA Championships in March, she qualified for finals in both the 100 and 200 fly.

Also competing for Broad Run High School, she is a three-time finalist at the VHSL Class 5 State Championships. As a junior, Graham finished seventh in the 100 fly (55.95) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:06.98) at the state meet.

She told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Pittsburgh. I chose the University of Pittsburgh for its amazing academic program and its outstanding swim team. Once I met the coaches and the team, I knew that Pitt was the place I wanted to continue my career as a student and an athlete. I love the campus, and everything the school has to offer. Thank you to all my coaches, friends, and family for their incredible support through this process. I can’t wait to officially join the panther family, H2P!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.40
  • 200 fly – 2:00.75
  • 200 IM – 2:06.48
  • 100 back – 57.51

Graham will provide more depth to the Panthers’ butterfly group when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023. Her best 200 fly would’ve ranked her second on the team last year and would’ve scored in the C-final at the 2018 ACC Championships.
