NEW COMMIT: Boston University has gained a new commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Fairfax, Va. native and sprint freestyler Madison Kim.

Kim swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and earned 100% best times at NCSAs this past summer after racing four events at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors. Last winter she finaled in a pair of events at the Tom Dolan Invite, placed 11th in the 100 free at Potomac Valley SCY Seniors, and raced to sixth in the 50 free at Christiansburg Sectionals.

Also competing for Chantilly High School, Kim is a four-time Virginia 6A State Championship finalist. She placed 10th in the 200 free and 16th in the 100 free as a junior while taking 12th and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Boston University!! Huge thanks to my family, coaches and friends for all their support throughout this process!! #rollterriers”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.90
  • 100 free – 52.52
  • 200 free – 1:53.53
  • 100 fly – 58.53

Kim will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she suits up for the Terriers as a member of the class of 2024. She’s just on the brink of scoring range at the Patriot League Championships as it took a 23.74/52.50/1:53.18 to place in the 50/100/200 free last season, but she has consistently made improvements each season.
