Russia’s Vladimir Morozov got the action in Copenhagen underway by posting the fastest time in the men’s 50m freestyle, earning him the middle lane in tomorrow’s final. Morozov’s time of 20.45 also bettered the old championship record of 20.48 in the event, set by France’s Amaury Leveaux in 2008. The second fastest time of the semi-finals came from Britain’s Benjamin Proud in 20.70. The third spot went to Poland’s Pawel Juraszek with his 20.95. Taking lane eight in tomorrow’s finals will be Italy’s Marco Orsi, who swam a 21.23 to earn that spot.
