More Television Time on the Way…Pan Pacs to Air on NBC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, February 8. FANS who don't get the chance to attend this summer's Pac Pacific Championships in Victoria, British Columbia will have the opportunity to view the event on television. USA Swimming announced yesterday that as the result of Mutual of Omaha's sponsorship, the Pan Pac Championships will air on NBC.

The Pan Pacific Championships will run from Aug. 17-20 and the competition will be televised a week later, on Aug. 26-27. The Saturday schedule features air time of 2:30-4 p.m. (EDT) while Sunday coverage will run from noon-1:30 p.m. (EDT). The Pan Pacific Champs are slated for the Saanich Commonwealth Place.

“Mutual of Omaha’s support continues to help us raise the public profile for swimming,” said Chuck Wielgus, Executive Director of USA Swimming. “Mutual of Omaha’s initiative in stepping forward to be a title sponsor for the event will ensure that our sport and our top athletes are showcased on NBC.”

The Pan Pacific Championships will likely feature several of America's top stars, including Michael Phelps, Katie Hoff, Ian Crocker, Brendan Hansen, Aaron Peirsol, Kaitlin Sandeo and Natalie Coughlin.

“The 2006 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships will be this year’s top international competition, featuring some of the world’s best swimmers. We’re thrilled to sponsor it,” said John Hildenbiddle, Mutual of Omaha Senior Vice President. “We’re proud to be affiliated with USA Swimming and support all levels of swimming, from international meets such as the Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships, to youngsters at local swim clubs across the country.”
