NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier Meaghan Harnish of York, Pa. has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Missouri beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will join Sydney Bales, Grace Striley and Grace Hanson as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2026.

Swimming is in her family business as her older sister, Courtney Harnish, was an SEC champion at Georgia.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Missouri!! Thank you to my family, friends, coaches and teammates who have helped me along the way!! Go Tigers!! ???”

Harnish does her club swimming at York YMCA and is a multi-time YMCA National finalist, most notably earning bronze in the 200m breast at YMCA Long Course Nationals in 2019. She most recently earned two best times at the 18&U Cup in Richmond and competed at the Toyota U.S. Open in November.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:03.62
  • 200 breast – 2:13.30
  • 200 IM – 2:02.48
  • 400 IM – 4:15.43
  • 200 free – 1:50.72
  • 500 free – 5:00.35
  • 1000 free – 10:21.05

Harnish also represented West York Area High School at the Pennsylvania 2A State Championships as a freshman, finishing third in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast.

Harnish will make a big impact when she arrives in Columbia. She would’ve been the Tigers’ fastest 400 IMer last season and would’ve landed in the C-final at the 2021 SEC Championships in that event. She also would’ve been their fourth-fastest 200 IMer.
