Mitch Larkin, Emma McKeon Cruise to Top Seeds at Australian Short Course Championships
The 2018 Australian Short Course Championships have featured some of the land down under’s best swimmers this week in Mitch Larkin, Emma McKeon, Ariarne Titmus and Cameron McEvoy.
Kyle Chalmers is the top seed in the 200 free for Friday night, cruising into a 1:44.35 for the top seed. He is ahead of a stacked field that is separated by a short margin. Alexander Graham (1:44.73), Jack Gerrard (1:44.84) and Elijah Winnington (1:44.89) all came in with 1:44 prelim swims along with Daniel Smith (1:44.98).
The Australians have a solid 4×200 free relay as they were second at the Pan Pacific Championships this summer, and were second in the world rankings.

Breaststroker Matthew Wilson is the top seed for the 200 IM final as he swam a 1:54.87 in the heats. He is well ahead of Travis Mahoney (1:57.51) and David Schlicht (1:57.84) in tonight’s final. Pan Pac silver medalist Mitch Larkin is the fourth seed after cruising to a 1:57.88. Larkin already swam the 200 back in the heats so he could not be at his best tonight in the final due to fatigue.
