NEW COMMIT: Missouri State University has landed another verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Ainsley Krug of Lawrence, Kansas.

Krug does her club swimming with Ad Astra Area Aquatics and most recently earned silver in the 200m back at the Missouri Valley LCM Championships this past summer after achieving three best times at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, she registered five top-8 finishes at the Missouri Valley SCY Championships before going on to final in three events at Columbia Sectionals.

Also competing for Lawrence Free State High School, Krug is a four-time Kansas 6A State Championship finalist. She placed fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the 100 back during her sophomore season after finishing seventh and fifth, respectively, in those events as a freshman.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Missouri State to continue my athletic and academic career! Thank you to my coaches, family, and friends for helping me along this journey! Missouri State has an incredible academic and athletic program that I can’t wait to be apart of! GO BEARS”

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 58.53
  • 200 back – 2:05.69
  • 100 fly – 59.75
  • 200 fly – 2:10.58
  • 500 free – 5:09.50
  • 1000 free – 10:45.53

Krug will add valuable depth to the Bears’ lineup next year. Under head coach Dave Collins, Missouri State earned their third-straight, and 15th overall, Missouri Valley Conference Championship title last season. She will also join Sami Romer, Anna Lucas and Anika Lam in Springfield at the start of the 2020-21 season.
