NEW COMMIT: Minneapolis, Minn. native and current high school junior Peyton D’Emanuele has declared her verbal intention to continue her swimming and academic career at the University of Notre Dame as a member of the class of 2024.

D’Emanuele, who does her club swimming with Aquajets Swim Team, owns a pair of Summer Juniors standards. She most recently competed at NCSAs where her highest finish was a 29th-place showing in the 100 fly after racing four events at Juniors West in December. She earned two golds at the Minnesota LCM Championships this past summer before going on to place 10th in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals.

Also representing Minneapolis Southwest High School, D’Emanuele is a five-time Minnesota DII State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 fly as a junior after being the runner-up in that event during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Notre Dame in 2020. Notre Dame is the right place for me to be the best student athlete I can be. I want to thank my coaches, teammates, teachers, and family for helping to make this amazing opportunity a reality. GO IRISH!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.74
  • 100 free – 50.42
  • 50 fly – 24.87
  • 100 fly – 54.45
  • 200 fly – 2:04.56
  • 100 back – 57.88

Even with well over a year to go before suiting up for the Fighting Irish, D’Emanuele will add valuable depth to the sprint free and fly groups. She would’ve scored in the C-final of the 100 fly at the 2019 ACC Championships where Notre Dame finished fourth overall in the team standings.
