Michigan Lower Peninsula Division II Girls High School State Championships

HOLLAND, Michigan, December 17. EIGHT Division II records were set at the Lower Peninsula Girls High School State Championships. Farmington Hills Mercy took first place with 414 points. Holland and Seaholm followed with scores of 302 and 199 respectively.
Six-star recruit Emily Bos (Holland), who will graduate in 2010, highlighted the meet with dual individual wins in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. She posted record times of 22.62 and 54.05 respectively.
Bos and her teammates, Courtney Bartholomew, Carolie Meyer and Nicole Cordero, opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The group finished with a record-breaking time of 1:45.27.
Okemos' Amelia Marsh swept the distance races of the meet. She clocked a 1:50.72 in the 200 freestyle and a 4:58.35 in the 500 freestyle.
With a score of 407.05, Carly Sevald (Farmington Hills Mercy) won the diving competition.
Sevald's teammates, Taylor Steffl, Nikki Barczak, Megan Gegesky and Sato Kakihara, took first place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.88).
Bartholomew, Klare Northuis, Haley Thompson and Bos closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:28.22).
