NEW COMMIT: The University of Michigan has landed a verbal commitment from Ridgefield, Conn. native Connor Hunt who will arrive in Ann Arbor in the fall of 2021.

He will join Cameron Luarde, Jacque Wenger, and Tim Connery as a member of the Wolverines’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am humbled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan! Thanks to my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me through this process. Go Blue!”

Hunt, who swims year-round with Ridgefield Aquatic Club, owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 800m free and raced four events at the Toyota U.S. Open in December. He also placed seventh in the mile and 12th in the 500 free at Juniors East in 2019.

Last summer, he achieved eight best times at the Connecticut LCM Senior Championships where he won the 400m IM. He then went on to place fifth in the 800m free, 15th in the 1500m free, 18th in the 400m IM, and 21st in the 400m free at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 100 free – 46.70
  • 200 free – 1:40.02
  • 500 free – 4:25.79
  • 1000 free – 9:07.32
  • 1650 free – 15:09.20
  • 100 fly – 51.06
  • 200 fly – 1:48.76
  • 200 IM – 1:50.95
  • 400 IM – 3:54.63

Also competing for Ridgefield High School, Hunt won the 200/500 free at the Connecticut LL Championships as a freshman in 2019. A week later, the two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also earned gold in both of those events at the Connecticut Open Championships.

Hunt will be joining a long legacy of talented distance freestylers in Michigan. He would’ve finished eighth in the mile at the 2020 Big Ten Championships while also placing in the C-final of the 400 IM. Next year, he’ll be reunited with former club teammate AJ Bornstein.
