Michigan Lands 2025 Verbal From Florida 1A State Champion Lila Higgo

NEW COMMIT: The University of Michigan has secured a new verbal commitment for Fall 2025 from Lila Higgo of the Cayman Islands. She is currently based out of Jacksonville, Florida.

She will join Montse Spielmann in Ann Arbor as a member of the Wolverines’ Class of 2029.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan! I would like to thank my family, friends and coaches for helping me along the way. Go Blue!”

Higgo does her club swimming with Bolles School Sharks and raced to fifth in the 100 back, eighth in the 100 free and 14th in the 50 free at Juniors East last month. She won the B-final of the 100m back at Junior Nationals last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:59.52
  • 100 back – 53.22
  • 200 back – 1:59.58
  • 50 free – 22.90
  • 100 free – 49.25

Currently a junior at Bolles School, Higgo won the 200 IM and placed second in the 100 back at the 2023 Florida 1A State Championships. She finished fourth and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Higgo’s top time in the 200 IM and 100 back are already fast enough to make the B-final at the Big Ten Championships, and her best 100 free time would have made the C-final.
