Michigan Girls Division 2 State Championships

YPSILANTI, Michigan, December 14. FARMINGTON Hills Mercy emerged victorious in the Michigan Girls Division 2 State Championships, tallying 398 points for the win on Nov. 19th-20th. Second place went to Holland with 276 points, and Birmingham Groves rounded out the top three teams with 197.5 points. Division 2 records went down in multiple events at the meet.

Holland's Courtney Bartholomew won two events and set two new Division 2 records at the meet. Her wins came in the 200 IM (2:02.72) and 100 back (52.94). Bartholomew's prelim time of 52.45 set a new Division 2 record.

Farmington Hills Mercy's Nikki Barczak was another double-event winner, as she claimed titles in the 50 free (23.24) and 100 free (50.44).

Jessica Powers of Kalamazoo Central also added her name to the record books with a new Division 2 standard in the 500 free (4:56.50). She also swam to victory in the 200 free in 1:50.57.

Annie Lazor of Birmingham Groves raced to a win in the 100 breast, touching in 1:02.10, another Division 2 record. Dexter's Casey Edwards won the 100 fly in 57.11, and Walled Lake Western's Allie Murphy won the one-meter diving competition with 410.45 points.

Farmington Hills Mercy swept the relays, setting two new Division 2 records in the process. They set new records in the 200 free relay (1:35.32) and 400 free relay (3:27.24), while also winning the 200 medley relay in 1:46.06.
