Dynamo 16-year old Michael Taylor nabbed the top seed in the men’s 200-meter back prelim at USA Nationals. Taylor entered the meet seeded fourth, but dropped nearly a second to claim to top slot. Taylor’s 1:58.41 was comprised of fairly solid splitting:

Taylor: 27.91/30.13/30.58/29.79

Griffin Carter is now slated second after his 1:58.51, followed by Jack Conger at 1:58.54. Conger, who has been vocally disappointed with his swims could pull off a win tonight from lane three. Jack Mahoney took fourth with a 1:58.90, while the favorite Jacob Pebley clinched fifth in 1:58.91.

Robert Owen (1:58.92), Austin Katz (1:59.35), and Austin Surhoff (1:59.37) also qualified for the tonight’s top heat.
