LONDON, England. December 31. HER Majesty Queen Elizabeth issued her New Year's Honours List for 2011 today. Michael Read, President of the Channel Swimming Association, was named a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his service to swimming.
Read was recognized for a lifetime of achievement and selfless service to the sport of open water swimming. It has been quite a year for the marathon swimmer who was also honored by the International Swimming Hall of Fame as a Honor Open Water Swimmer.
