Eighteen-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps (Baltimore, Md.), as well as fellow Olympic medalists Cullen Jones (Irvington, N.J.), Caitlin Leverenz (Tucson, Ariz.), Allison Schmitt (Canton, Mich.) and Nick Thoman (Cincinnati, Ohio), are among the more than 900 swimmers expected to compete at next week’s USA Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships at San Antonio’s Northside Swim Center.

Hosted by San Antonio Sports and the Northside Swim Center, the five-day meet opens Thursday, Aug. 6 and runs through Monday, Aug. 10 with daily prelims at 9 a.m. CDT and finals at 6 p.m. CDT. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased online at sanantoniosports.org.

Leverenz (200m IM, 400m IM), Schmitt (200m free) and Thoman (100m back) are fresh off gold-medal-winning performances at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. Expected to join them in San Antonio following Pan Am success are fellow gold-medal winners Katie Meili (Colleyville, Texas; 100m breast), Sierra Schmidt (Erdenheim, Pa., 800m free), Josh Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio; 50m free), Giles Smith (Baltimore, Md.; 100m fly) and Kelsi Worrell (Mt. Holly, N.J.; 100m fly).

2012 U.S. Olympians Andrew Gemmell (Wilmington, Del.) and Dana Vollmer (Granbury, Texas) are also slated to swim in San Antonio. Vollmer, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the 100m fly, recently returned to competition for the first time since 2013 following the birth of her son earlier this year.

In total, nearly 40 members of the USA Swimming National Team are expected to compete at the Northside Swim Center, which will also host the domestic training camp for Team USA prior to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

A live webcast of the entire meet will be available online at usaswimming.org, and NBC will broadcast exclusive television coverage from San Antonio on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1-3 p.m. EDT.

The 2015 Phillips 66 National Championships serve as the sole qualifier for the U.S. team for the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships, slated for Aug. 19-31 in Singapore. Complete selection procedures can be found here.
