Miami Hurricanes Sweep Up Verbal From Evelyn Meggesto of Arlington Aquatic Club
NEW COMMIT: The University of Miami has received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Futures qualifier Evelyn Meggesto of Alexandria, Virginia.
She will join Sarah Sensenbrenner of Sarasota, Fla. as a member of the Canes’ Class of 2026.
She told Swimming World:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Miami! I would like to thank my family, friends and all my coaches who have supported me throughout this journey. I can’t wait to be a hurricane at the U! GO CANES”
A talented butterflyer and freestyler, Meggesto trains with Arlington Aquatic Club and earned two best times at Richmond Futures this past summer. She also finaled in the 200m fly at the TYR 18&U Cup in Richmond back in April and flew to 13th in that event at the 18&U Winter Championships – Potomac Valley last winter.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 56.25
- 200 fly – 2:03.70
- 50 free – 24.65
- 100 free – 52.71
- 200 free – 1:52.86
Also competing for Saint Stephen’s & Saint Agnes School, Meggesto is a six-time Virginia Independent School State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 200 free as a junior while taking third and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
