Miami Hurricanes Sweep Up First 2025 Verbal From Phoebe Mayo
NEW COMMIT: The University of Miami has received its first verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season from U.S. Open qualifier Phoebe Mayo of Yorktown, Virginia.
Mayo’s best time in the 200 back is already fast enough to score in the B-final at the ACC Championships.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Miami! I want to give a huge thank you to my friends, family, coaches and teammates for their support throughout this process and throughout the years!! Go Canes!!”
Mayo does her club swimming with Coast Guard Blue Dolphins and most recently competed at Juniors East. She capped off her summer season by winning the B-finals of the 400m IM and 200m back at NCSA Championships, after recording five top-15 finishes at Virginia Long Course Seniors.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 54.79
- 200 back – 1:56.97
- 200 IM – 2:03.57
- 400 IM – 4:20.00
Currently a junior at York High School, Mayo is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She earned silver in both the 100 back and 200 IM at the 2023 Virginia Class 3 State Championships after taking third in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 free at the 5A state meet as a freshman.
