Miami Hurricanes Reel In Verbal Commitment from Futures Runner-Up Adrianna Cera
NEW COMMIT: The University of Miami (Florida) has earned a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Raleigh, North Carolina freestyler Adrianna Cera.
Cera, who owns four Winter Juniors standards, does her club swimming with Marlins of Raleigh and placed 18th in the mile at Juniors East in December. She concluded her long course season with five lifetime bests and a runner-up finish in the 400m free at Cary Futures this past summer. Cera placed seventh in the 1000 free and tenth in the 500 free at North Carolina SCY Seniors in February and raced eight events at NCSAs last March. Also competing for Millbrook High School, Cera placed sixth in the 200 free and eighth in the 100 free as a junior after placing 14th in the latter during her sophomore season at the North Carolina 4A State Championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I am extremely humbled and thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Miami. I can’t thank my family, friends, and coaches enough for their help and I am so excited to spend the next 4 years with such an amazing team! #gocanes”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.98
- 100 free – 51.74
- 200 free – 1:50.25
- 500 free – 4:53.06
- 1000 free – 10:10.94
- 1650 free – 16:46.01
Cera’s versatility across a range of freestyle events will make a big impact when she suits up for the Canes as a member of the class of 2023. She would’ve placed in the top-24 in the mile at the 2018 ACC Championships, an event in which Miami only had one swimmer compete in last season.
