Megan Sichterman Verbally Commits to Tennessee Vols
Megan Sichterman has committed to the University of Tennessee for the 2017-2018 season. The current high school junior swims for Countryside YMCA and lives in South Lebanon, Ohio.
She finished third in this year’s 100 butterfly at YMCA Nationals, posting a 53.94.
Her other top times include her 2:02.16 in the 200 butterfly and 23.41 in the 50 freestyle.
She said she is, “So excited to reach my full potential athletically and academically at an amazing school that will help me to!”
The Vols finished 13th at this year’s NCAA Championships and second at the SEC Championships. Sichterman’s 100 butterfly best time would have placed 22nd at this year’s SEC meet. The conference does score through the C final, though. While four Lady Vol were as fast or faster than the current high school junior, three of them will have graduated by Sichterman’s arrival in Knoxville.
Both of her other top swims put her just outside the SEC scoring range, but with another year of high school swimming, the reigning Ohio State champion has time to improve and make an impact on the Lady Vols program.
