Mecklenburg Continues to Shine

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina. January 20. MECKLENBURG Aquatic Club hosted its annual LarsonAllen Invitational over the past weekend, giving several MAC swimmer the opportunity to shine. MAC split its team into an A and B team, Nova of Virginia attended, along with First Colony from Houston, MOR from Raleigh and Greenville Swim Club.

Mecklenburg’s 17-year-old Ricky Berens continued to blaze through the water with nine individual wins. He posted some outstanding in-season times: 50 free (20.47), 100 free, (46.30), 200 free (1:38.83), 100 back (50.04; 49.53 medley relay lead-off), 200 back (1:51.43), 200 IM (1:50.14), 400IM (4:00.61), 100 fly (47.24) and 200 fly (1:45.92). Many of those times would be in the top ten college rankings this year.

Other MAC winners with outstanding times were done by: Mason Brunnick 500 free (4:34.47), Josh Correll 100 breast (57.97) and Kaleigh Gomes 50 free (23.80).
