The Florida State University men’s swim team will have the son of an Olympic champion on the team starting next fall, as Max Polianski has made a verbal commitment to be a Seminole in 2016.
Max is the son of Igor Polianski, who won the 200 backstroke at the 1988 Olympics. The Polianskis reside in Auckland, New Zealand, where Max represents the United Swimming Club. He won the 200 fly in 1:56.97 at the New Zealand short course meters nationals last August. Polianski will bring that butterfly talent to the United States, along with great potential in backstroke and individual medley.
Because he’s never raced in short course yards, it’s difficult to estimate the 19-year-old’s potential on the Florida State squad, but his winning time in the 200 fly would convert to scoring potential in that event at the ACC championships in 2017. His best time in the long course 200 fly is 2:03.96, which is a bit off his converted time from short course meters, so expect a big drop to come from Polianski soon.

Well he’s certainly got the “jeans.”
Good luck. Max, and remember…as Jimbo always sez: “It’s great to be a Gator…err…’Nole!”
Max Polianski yea maboaaaa!
