Masters Great Frank Havlicek Passes Away

MERRIFIELD, Virg., February 22. MASTERS and former University of Iowa swimming star, Frank Havlicek, passed away on February 13 at the age of 83, SwimInfo has learned. Havlicek had been a member of USMS for more than 30 years and was a founder of Ohio Masters swimming.

His daughter, Jane, sent this message to Frank's many friends:

"I wanted to let you know that my father, Frank Havlicek, passed away following a valiant struggle with Alzheimer's and Parkinsons'. We had the support of Hospice for this last week, and that made such a
difference.

"Mother and I have had the chance to say goodbye and we are very grateful. He is in God's hands and at peace.

"We will not be having a service here. Sometime this summer we will be taking his ashes up to the Boundary Waters area of northern Minnesota, which is what he wanted.

"Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to: Hospice of Northern Virginia
