Maryland 100 Breast State Finalist Gabriel Fouts Selects George Mason

NEW COMMIT: George Mason University has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Gabriel Fouts of Gaithersburg, Md.

He told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and continue my education at George Mason University. I couldn’t thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates enough for supporting me every step of the way. Go Patriots!!!”

Fouts, who trains year-round with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club, last competed at the 18&U Winter Championships where he earned a best time in the 200 breast. In March 2020, he was the runner-up in the 200 IM at the Potomac Valley Senior Championships and finaled in both breaststroke events at Eastern Zones in August 2019.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 57.20
  • 200 breast – 2:07.48
  • 200 IM – 2:00.12
  • 50 free – 22.43

Also competing for Quince Orchard Swim Club, Fouts is a three-time Maryland 3A/4A State Championship finalist. He finished second in the 100 breast and 16th in the 50 free as a junior while taking ninth in the former event during his sophomore season.

He also placed eighth in the 100 breast at the 2020 Washington Metropolitan Prep School League Championship.

Under head coach Peter Ward, the Patriots won their first-ever Atlantic 10 title in 2020.
