Women’s 400 IM

Madisyn Cox, representing Longhorn Aquatics, accelerated from her second place seed in finals of the 400 IM to claim the title with a time of 4:37.94. Cox trailed behind ABSC’s Hali Flickinger and Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis after the fly leg of the race, but a strong backstroke leg pushed Cox into a strong lead, which she never backed down from.

Margalis finished second overall with a time of 4:38.13, while Flickinger took home the bronze with a time of 4:39.98.

Picking up fourth was Northern Kentucky Clippers’ Mariah Denigan with a time of 4:45.41, followed by UBC Thunderbirds’ Megan Dalke’s 4:47.51.

Sarasota YMCA’s Emma Weyant (4:48.44), Trojan Swim Club’s Haley Anderson (4:49.96), and Magnolia Aquatics’ Kaitlynn Sims’ (4:53.97) were sixth through eighth overall.
