This week’s Performance Of The Week, sponsored by LumaLanes, goes to Lilly King for her dominant win in the 50 breaststroke at the Santa Clara stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series.

Swimming on the final day in Santa Clara, King added to her two wins from earlier in the meet to make it a perfect sweep of the breaststroke events when she touched first in the 50 breaststroke knockout final. Immediately following the prelims and semifinals of the knockout rounds, King blasted a 29.62 in finals, just 2-tenths off of her world and American record of 29.40 from last summer.

King also was able to take over as the fastest in that event in the world this year, dropping over a second from semis to move past fellow American Molly Hannis’s time of 29.71 from earlier this year. Hannis’ time was also the old Pro Series Record in the event, which King also broke with her swim.

That makes King the fastest in the world in the 50 and 100 breaststroke this year with her summer championship meets still to come. She moved past Yulia Efimova’s top time in the 100 breast from the Mare Nostrum series just a few hours after the Russian’s swim in what King calls a “virtual rivalry” between the two swimmers this year (Efimova was also 29.93 at the Mare Nostrum the day King went 29.62).

Congratulations Lilly King on earning Swimming World’s Performance of the Week!

Special Thanks to LumaLanes for sponsoring Swimming World’s Performance of the Week.
