Loyola Hosts First Day of Thomas Murphy Invite
BALTIMORE, Maryland, November 10. THE Loyola men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed action on day one of the Thomas Murphy Invitational with a pair of individual victories and a relay win through 10 events on Friday night.
Melissa White led the women's effort with first-place finish in the 200-yard IM, swimming a time of 2:15.33 in the event.
The Greyhound women also had a pair of runner-up finishes in the first set of events with Megen Hadley taking second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.46) and freshman Megan Royer placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.12) after being edged out by three-tenths of a second.
Senior Ryan Reeser was the men's top finisher with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle. Reeser posted a time of 4:44.87 in the event while team-mate Ian Perazelli placed third in 4:55.69.
Reeser was also part of Loyola's winning 800-yard freestyle relay team. Teaming up with younger brother Brad Reeser, junior Patrick Hicks and freshman Zachary Oster, the foursome swam a time of 7:07.33 to earn the win.
