Louisville Secures First 2028 Verbal From Sprint Freestyler Kaylee Richmond
NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has secured its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Kaylee Richmond of Murrieta, Calif. Richmond is a Junior National qualifier who specializes in sprint freestyle.
She will arrive in Louisville as a member of the Cardinals’ Class of 2032.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m beyond excited and incredibly grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Louisville! I would like to thank my parents for their endless love and support, Coach Ken for all of his guidance and encouragement, and my teammates for always pushing me. A huge thank you to Coach Arthur and the entire Louisville coaching staff for giving me this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait for what’s ahead! GO CARDS!!”
Richmond, who does her club swimming with Irvine Novaquatics, raced three events at Juniors West in December before placing 12th in the 100 free and 13th in the 50 free at Walnut Speedo Sectionals a week later. She won the B-final of the 100 free at Oceanside Speedo Sectionals in February. Last summer, she placed 16th in the 100m free at Junior Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 22.88
- 100 free – 49.77
- 200 free – 1:49.61
Currently a junior at Murrieta Valley High School, Richmond placed 14th in the 50 free and 15th in the 100 free at the 2026 CIF State Championships after taking first and second, respectively, in those events at the CIF Southern Section DII Championships. The NISCA All-American earned bronze in the 100 free and took fourth in the 50 free at the 2025 CIF State Championships as a freshman, winning both those races at the divisional meet.
Louisville placed fourth at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and eighth at the 2026 NCAA Championships. It took a 22.56/48.91/1:46.88 to earn a second swim in the 50/100/200 free at last season’s conference meet.
