Louisville Adds Four to Roster

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky. May, 19. ALANA Berrocal of Jupiter, Fla., Laura Clark of Wokjolf, Ohio, Elizabeth Halet of Minneapolis, Minn., have all signed national letters of intent to continue their swimming careers at the University of Louisville. Stephanie Osucha of Lone Oak, Ky. will be transferring to U of L from Lindenwood University.

"The depth this class is phenomenal, across the board. These ladies
in combination with our returnees. I am very pleased with this class,"
said head coach Arthur Albiero, who is in his third season with the
Cardinals. "We are excited about this class, all of these them have a
great blend of ability and character. We expect this group of ladies to
be our future leaders who will produce great success for us in the Big
East and in the NCAA."

Berrocal is the daughter of former Olympian for Puerto Rico and NCAA
Champion, Carlos Berrocal. She comes to Louisville from Jupiter Florida.
As a 100- and 200-backstroker, Alana will represent Puerto Rico this
summer at the Caribbean and Central American Games held in Colombia.
Along with her specialty backstroke, she will also swim freestyle events
for UofL.

"Alana is a great new addition for the team. Her unwavering passion
for the sport fits in great with our team mission and vision" said
Coach Albiero.

Laura Clark, joins the aquatic Cardinal roster from Wokjolf, Ohio. A
swimmer from Coach Jerry Holtry's successful Lake Erie Silver Dolphins
Club, Laura brings an strong work ethic in the distance freestyle
events. She was a finalist in the Ohio High School State Championships
in both the 200- and 500- freestyle events as both a junior and a
senior.

"Laura joins the Cardinals with a burning desire for training and be
a part of something special, we are excited for her future," said
Albiero.

Elizabeth Halet of Minneapolis, Minn. will swim the freestyle events,
and is expected to be an impact swimmer on relays. This past year, Liz
was the Minnesota High School State Champion in the 100-free and
runner-up in the 200-freestyle. She also was finalist in the 50- and
100-freestyle at the Junior National Championships held this past March
in Orlando, Florida.

"Those who know her described her as having major untapped
potential" said Coach Albiero, "I am looking forward to working
with her and the tenacious commitment she brings to the pool and to the
classroom. Louisville is a great fit for her, and for us."

And transferring from Lindenwood University is Kentucky native,
Stephanie Osucha of Lone Oak, Ky. She was a finalist at the 2005
Kentucky High School State Championships in the 100-breaststroke.

"It is important that we have student-athletes from our home state,
and even better that she is coming back to her roots. She is excited,
and we are excited to welcome her. I know she will be a great
addition," said Albiero.

This brings the incoming class for the 2006-2007 season to seven
signees with addition the three November early signings of Karen Criss,
Amanda Henleben, and Anna Dishuck.

"I really think that this years recruiting rounded out nicely. As I
mentioned before, this is a great combination that the women's team
have heading into this coming season," said Albiero. "We're extremely
pleased with the addition of these four women to our swimming program,
and all seven of them are a high caliber athletes that will continue to
move us into the national spotlight."
