Lotte Friis, Anders Nielsen Among 15 Named to Danish Olympic Team

On Friday, the Danish Swimming Union, named 15 swimmers to the roster for the 2016 Olympics in August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Pernille Blume, Sarah Bro, Lotte Friis, Julie Kepp Jensen, Mie Ø. Nielsen, Jeanette Ottesen and Rikke Møller Pedersen are the seven women on the team.

Friis was the bronze medalist in the 800 freestyle in Beijing. In 2012 she finished fourth in the 400 freestyle and fifth in the 800 in what was considered a disappointing Games.

Ottesen will head to her third Olympics this summer. Nielsen will be another star of the roster after she was the bronze medalist in the 100 backstroke at the 2015 World Championships.

The men will have eight representatives: Viktor Bromer, Søren Dahl, Mads Glæsner, Anton Ørskov Ipsen, Pál Joensen, Anders Lie Nielsen, Daniel Skaaning and Magnus Westermann.

Nielsen is a multiple time NCAA All-American and a 2012 Olympian for Denmark.

The nation’s four coaches will be Stefan Hansen, Eyleifur Jóhannesson, Nick Juba and Shannon Rollason.
