One hour before the second night of finals at the Olympics in Rio, the lineups came out for the 400 free relay. The United States will go with a team of Caeleb DresselMichael PhelpsRyan Held and Nathan Adrian. Held beat out the three other men who swam on the U.S. prelims relay to earn a spot in the final with the two American qualifiers in the individual 100 free as well as Phelps, who’s making his Rio Olympics debut.

The top-seeded Russians will go with Andrey GrechinDanila IzotovVladimir Morozov and Alexander Sukhurukov. All but Morozov swam in the morning heats.

Australia will go with James RobertsKyle Chalmers and James Magnussen in front of 100 free world leader Cameron McEvoy.

The French will seek to repeat their gold medal from lane six, and they have Mehdy MetellaFabien GilotFlorent Manaudou and Jeremy Stravius going for them. This will be the third straight Olympics Gilot has appeared on France’s relay, winning a silver in 2008 and gold in 2012.

Canada (leading off with Santo Condorelli) and Brazil (Marcelo Cherighini going first) could get off to quick starts, but neither is likely to be able to hold the quick pace of the top four squads.

Dressel got off with a lead, Phelps got his pull out back and shot out from the turn, Held held onto the lead, and Adrian brought it home.

Andrew Femiano also coaches have final say… He could have an illness or not be on his game … As a swim coach .. Many factors go into our decision He could have events tomorrow they are resting him for … Just depends

Except Ervin is only swimming the 50 free and the final for that is Friday.
