Leisel Jones Talks About The World Swimming Championships in Shanghai, China
Austrailia, April 8. Leisel Jones's Blog:
Well, here I am, fresh from the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. It was a huge event, the big crowds lifted people’s performances and the positive atmosphere was great.
I had an amazing meet and while I knew I could go faster, I was shocked by how much when I took 0.62 seconds off my previous world record. It’s really exciting to see how fast women’s breaststroke can go. I was honoured to be representing my country and the women’s 4 x 100m IM relay was a real highlight. We knew we had a job to do and I knew that if we did that job we could swim fast so we focused on executing it right – to clinch a new world record was a real achievement. Us girls have risen above expectations – we’ve been through our rebuilding phase and it’s an exciting future for our team.
So, straight from Melbourne many of my team mates headed out to Shanghai, I’m sorry I can’t be there but I’m watching it all and hoping that Libby can continue her fantastic year in the pool – we’re all be rooting for her.
This is a new role for me, sitting outside the pool blogging about what’s going on in the pool, but it’s been good fun! So, what are we looking at on day four? For the rest of the story go to www.Speedo.com
