Leanne Smith, Katie Kubiak Lead Team USA For Para Swimming World Championships
Leanne Smith and Katie Kubiak are among the headliners for the United States’ delegation for the 2025 Para Swimming World Championships.
The team, announced on Monday, was determined based on results from the 2024 Para Swimming World Series and the 2025 U.S. Championships, held last weekend in Boise, Idaho. The team includes 20 athletes – 13 women, seven men – for the event in Singapore from Sept. 21-27.
“We’re incredibly proud of this team and excited to see them represent the U.S. in Singapore,” Amanda Duke Boulet, Director of U.S. Paralympics Swimming, said in a press release. “This roster reflects both the strength of our veteran leadership and the exciting promise of our rising stars. The world championships are a critical step as we build toward a Paralympic Games on home soil.”
Smith won two gold and four total medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympics and has gotten faster since then at age 37. Kubiak set four world records in Boise and is making her first World Championships appearance.
The roster includes such stalwarts as Jessica Long, swimming at her ninth World Championships. She is a 29-time Paralympic medalist and 54-time Worlds medalist. Olivia Chambers, Gia Pergolini, Christie Raleigh Crossley, Morgan Stickney and Mallory Weggeman are among the Paralympic champions who will represent Team USA at the meet.
Several swimmers are making their Worlds debuts, including most of the men’s team. That includes Paralympian Evan Wilkerson and new faces Koehn Boyd, Aiden Stivers and Adin Williams.
